His PhD focused on a region in central Nepal. It shed light on the political structures of an Indo-Nepalese population using data pertaining to its history, kinship, ritual and village politics.
He then undertook an anthropology of Nepalese Maoist representations, including an analysis of the symbolic productions regarding martyrs and nation building.
He is currently carrying out research on the cultural complexity of North-East India, more particularly on the connections between descent and ethnicity.
