As a host team for the doctoral school Milieu, cultures et sociétés du passé et du présent in Paris-Ouest, the Centre d’études himalayennes welcomes each year a Master’s student in ethnology/anthropology, and introduces them to research in the Himalayan cultural area (Nepal, India, China). CEH provides methodological, financial and logistical support for the ethnographic study which marks the end of year M1.
After discussions with CEH researchers, the student chooses a specific theme, focusing on the unit’s current fields of research (see below). Reception into the research unit and fieldwork is done within the framework of an internship agreement. After writing their dissertation, the student writes a brief report on their fieldwork and is asked to present their work to CEH members.
