Position: associate professor (College of History and Culture, Lanzhou University)
Research Topics

A historian of religions by training (PhD University of Virginia, 2018), Rinchen Dorje teaches at the Centre for Studies of Ethnic Groups in Northwest China, College of History and Culture, Lanzhou University, China. He is visiting scholar at the Centre for Himalayan Studies from Oct 2022 to July 2023. A specialist of history of monastic institutions and lineages in Amdo, he also has a strong interest in contemporary religious developments in Amdo and socio-anthropological approaches to religion and ritual, which is the main reason for his visit to CNRS.
